Latest releases of software supporting Microsoft Windows XP By Armando Caussade, http://armandocaussade.org/ Version 5.0. February 14, 2020. Copyright © 2021 Armando Caussade. Some rights reserved. Creative Commons License BY-NC-ND 4.0. ----- This compilation is based on reports that I collected from the Internet, and then put to test myself on the 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows XP (using an offline system that never connects to the Internet, and is kept only for backward compatibility). Windows XP was the latest Microsoft system that I used on a regular basis, until its end-of-life in 2014. I have since switched to the GNU / Linux platform, which now serves nearly all of my computing needs. I have tested everything in the list, with four exceptions: Microsoft Office 2010, Security Essentials 4.4, Oracle Java 7 and Adobe Reader 11; these were left aside for the simple reason that I have never had any use for those packages (although I ocassionally use the older Java 6 and Reader 9). My experiments gave positive results for everything, but involved only the releases reported here to be last supported and not newer ones. It would be interesting to investigate the possibility of unofficial support by newer releases of these packages (there is good likehood some may still work), but I cannot promise anything as this would be extremely time-consuming. My list also includes occasional reports from older NT-based operating systems (i.e., Windows 2000 and NT4), but I have not done any testing with these so cannot vouch for the validity of this information. The list includes only stable releases, not development versions. In most cases portable packages behave similarly to the installable versions, although there are a few instances where a portable application will run, but not the installer (or viceversa); where such differences exist, I have made a note. Finally, most applications will require that Windows XP be updated to Service Pack 3, in order to achieve successful installation and execution. I. MICROSOFT WINDOWS SYSTEM COMPONENTS 1.
